How Does RM18 Work?

Diquat is already damaging leaf cell membranes. You'll see drooping and yellowing — a clear sign the product has been absorbed.

How to Apply RM18 (Step-by-Step)
There are three application methods depending on the size of your project. Each has its place.
Method 1: Tank Sprayer — Best for 300–5,000 sq ft
Pump sprayer (1–2 gallon), measuring cup, RM18 concentrate, water. Recommended: Chapin 20002 (budget) or Smith Performance 190285 (premium).
Fill sprayer halfway with water. This prevents foaming when you add the concentrate.
Add 4–6 oz of RM18 per 300 sq ft you're treating. Use a measuring cup — don't eyeball it.
Fill to final volume with water, close lid, and shake for 30 seconds.
Pump to pressurize and spray evenly on target weeds. Hold wand 12–18 inches above foliage using a sweeping motion.
Method 2: Hose-End Sprayer — Best for 1,000+ sq ft
Fill hose-end sprayer reservoir with RM18 concentrate (undiluted). Recommended: Ortho Dial N Spray or Chapin G362.
Set dial to 4–6 fluid ounces, attach to garden hose, turn on water.
Spray evenly. The sprayer auto-mixes RM18 with water as you go — no manual pumping, fast coverage of large areas.
Method 3: Backpack Sprayer — Best for 5,000+ sq ft or slopes
Fill backpack 1/3 full with water. Calculate total RM18 needed: area ÷ 300 × 5 oz. Add concentrate, then fill remaining space with water.
Close, shake to mix, strap on, and spray. Ideal for hills, large properties, and professional-level coverage. Recommended: Field King Professional or Chapin 61500.
Before, During, and After Checklist
Temp: 60–85°F. No rain for 24 hours after. Wind under 10 mph. Morning or evening preferred. Cover desirable plants. Wear gloves, long sleeves, goggles.
Wet leaves thoroughly but stop before runoff. Hold wand 12–18 inches from foliage. Use cardboard to shield grass or plants. Work in sections for large areas.
Rinse sprayer 3× with clean water immediately. No foot traffic for 2–4 hours. Keep pets away 24 hours. No mowing for 7 days. Wait 30 days before planting anything new.

When to Apply RM18: Seasonal Guide
Weeds are actively growing — maximum absorption through leaves. Warm temps mean faster kill times. Apply early morning or evening for best results.
Still highly effective but slower in extreme heat above 85°F. Apply in early morning or late afternoon only. If weeds are very dry, lightly water them 1–2 hours before spraying.
Weeds preparing for dormancy absorb herbicides more slowly. Still works but takes 3–4 weeks instead of 2. Apply at least 6 weeks before first frost for full effect.
Most weeds are dormant. Glyphosate requires active plant growth to be absorbed and transported. Product will sit on the surface and do nothing. Complete waste of money.
Safety Tips & Precautions
Chemical-resistant gloves, long sleeves and pants, safety glasses or goggles, closed-toe shoes. Face mask if spraying overhead. Never spray in shorts and t-shirt.
